If you are buying a Friesian advertised as KFPS registered, please ensure you are given the registration paper (and passport) at the time of sale. Here are a few reasons why someone might try to sell a horse advertised as KFPS registered without its registration paper:

1. The horse might be stolen or part of an ownership dispute

2. The horse may not be a KFPS registered Friesian

3. The registration paper is genuinely lost but the seller does not want to apply for a duplicate for various reasons.

Our advice is NEVER buy a horse advertised as KFPS registered without being handed the registration papers at the time you collect the horse. If the registration paper has been lost, wait until the seller has obtained a Duplicate registration paper. Before agreeing a sale ALWAYS check that the registration paper matches the horse you are buying and get a vet to check that the microchip matches the one noted on the registration paper. Get a RECEIPT for the horse you buy which identifies the horse by its registration number and microchip number and clearly states the name, address and contact telephone numbers of the seller along with their signature, the date and amount you have paid.
