The required Forms
Foal Notification

Go to UKFHS Foal Portal to record new foals.

Do not use KFPS site to notify of UK born foals (It may cause your application to be rejected)

Notify within 1 week of birth

Fill in the Foal Passport Form

Download the form or request one by post. Vet should chip, check dam, complete the diagrams, collect hair DNA from foal, dam and sire (whichever is relevant). If it is your mare’s first KFPS or UKFHS foal then she will need DNA. If it is not a studbook stallion sire or has not been DNA tested by KFPS before, sire will also need DNA and Covering Certificate sent to UKFHS

Make sure you allow plenty of time for DNA results

Please find below the instructions for foal registration and passporting. Due to BREXIT our forms and procedures have had to be brought in line with current DEFRA policies. Old forms will no longer be accepted so please make sure you download the current ones below.

An instruction sheet on how to collect and store you horses DNA is availiable to download below. Please contact us if you need any further clarification.
If DNA Parentage verification is unsuccessful you may be offered an ID passport only.
Please note, the breed papers are, and remain the property of the KFPS, until such time as the horse is sold or dies. At this point it is the members’ responsibility to ensure the papers are returned to the KFPS for the deposit to be partially refunded. This is a contract between the member and the KFPS.
Included in the cost are the DNA testing costs of foal/dam/sire
The cost does not include KFPS fees for Breed Papers – You will need to contact the KFPS separately as this is a contract between the KFPS and yourself.
Non Gold Members will not receive breed papers
